Hello, this is Evie. If I haven't picked up, it means I'm probably deep into research and may require digging out. Please leave a message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can.
It's not old-fashioned... [ except as he looks at the room, or what's visible of it, then yeah, it kinda is. but that's thanks to the bunker, his home, and the era it had come from. dean hadn't realized how much he'd modeled the place after it until now. ]
Doesn't that mean you should like... extra dig it then?
[Evelyn points out, dragging one of the sofa cushions toward her and holding it in her lap. Similarly she hadn't given much thought to the décor before, but it has a comfortable feeling that gives the sense it's actually been lived in, is well-used.]
oh right, she didn't say that, did she? dean shuffles in his place for a minute, a hand scratching the back of his neck, then tries to shrug it all off. ]
We found this bunker-like place back home some time ago, me and Sam-- it looks kinda like this. It had mostly been untouched since the 50's though, so... [ the influences in this room are to blame on that. ]
'Course I made sure to deck this place out a little too. Can't live without the good stuff.
[The flat suits Dean with his apparent nostalgia for music and films that pre-date him, as though attaching the word "classic" to something was enough to prove it worthwhile. They used to say the same thing about trains before private automobiles started supplanting them in the transportation market.]
..."the good stuff" being what, exactly? Television? An inordinate amount of hooch?
[The Americanism slips out unbidden, foreign and funny on her tongue but not said without humour.]
You kids. [wow excuse u] I'm flattered, but over thirty, thank you.
[Thirty-four, if Wonderland years are on the table. And just because she likes to have a tipple a couple of times a week doesn't mean that she (or the rest of her family, for that matter) drinks a great deal. Some people cope better by dulling their senses - Evelyn tends to find that alcohol turns her into a riotous mess.]
Besides, [She tips her head back, looking up at the ceiling.] We entertain ourselves perfectly well. Cinema. Radio. Reading. Archaeological digs. Assorted acts of debauchery. Just like anyone else.

[ how universal, huh. ]
I dunno how you kids entertained yourselves back in the olden days.
