 β First Impressions β VISUAL: Normal human, half-Egyptian, English by birth. 5'5", early 30s with curling brown hair and hazel eyes, petite and curvy figure. Pale and susceptible to sunburn. No large scars, but several small ones on her hands from working in severely arid climates with archaeological equipment. One or two narrow grazes from bullets on her upper arms. Vague smatterings of light freckles. Smiles and laughs often. β FASHION: Evelyn is an Egyptologist and vascillates between the practicality of trousers, boots and a blouse for field work and slightly less practical skirts and shirtwaists. Most of the fabrics are light-textured or sturdy, sensible for hot weather and being out-of-doors, and have a more foreign cut than the typical English clothier would advertise. Her wardrobe very much screams of time spent abroad traveling, though she dresses up now and again depending on the occasion. Wears a small gold locket around her neck that belonged to her mother. β DEMEANOUR: Opinionated and erudite, Evelyn is extremely well-educated and well-spoken. She is incapable of relaxing for longer than five minutes and therefore ends up being something of a workaholic without meaning to; if she isn't working on-site for an excavation she is planning the next one, or managing funds, or doing research. Likes getting her hands dirty and needs intellectual stimulation. For all her pithy sayings she is an impatient person, stubborn and frequently pushing boundaries (sometimes more than is necessary). As a woman in a male-dominated field Evelyn has learned to be aggressive. Quick-witted with a dry sense of humour, she very much enjoys haggling and the art of negotiating. Is the textbook definition of "challenge accepted." She isn't particularly tall, but her upbringing trained poise and good posture into her and she stands with her shoulders straight and her chin up. Circumstantially clumsy. β SOUND: English accent, undeniably aristocratic. Not so posh as the Windsor but crisp and enunciated. A bit of a rambler when she gets going, she is talkative and articulate. Evelyn tends not to slur her speech unless she is very tipsy. β SCENT: Jasmine perfume; the oils used to lubricate expedition equipment. β ABILITIES: By profession she is an archaeologist with a concentration on Egyptology. A consummate academic, Evelyn is an extremely adept researcher and transliterator of ancient texts. She speaks somewhere around 8-9 languages with varying degrees of fluency, though her speciality is dead ones. Adores puzzles and intellectual challenges of all stripes. She has a fair amount of anatomical knowledge working with very old, very dead people. Physically she is slight, with some hand-to-hand (namely, boxing) experience. Evelyn is a much better sharpshooter, comfortable with the meticulous precision of riflery and preferring long-range weaponry to fists or handguns. β MAGICAL INFORMATION: Evelyn is the reincarnation of an Egyptian princess from the Old Kingdom, and while she does not have the ability to use any magicks, a fair amount of combat experience from her past life has bled into her present. This isn't especially relevant for AUs, though. β OOC β BACKTAGGING: Always and forever. I'm a slow tagger, I get to things at my own pace and the tags are usually better for it. If it's been a while, feel free to PM me because things might have just gotten really busy at work! β FOURTHWALLING: Evelyn is aware that there is a movie with Boris Karloff in it, playing The Mummy, but she and her family like to wave that off as Hollywood taking the screenwriting advice of superstitious Egyptian locals. That said, I'd prefer not to have anyone fourthwalling her actual canon (the 1999 and 2001 movies). β PHYSICAL AFFECTION: Yes! Evelyn is a very physical person - from someone she doesn't know well, touching is fine in moderation, but if the attention feels uncomfortable she will make it clear that your character stop while they still have hands. β PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: I'm fine with it! Let me know if you want to maim/kill her, and we can work something out. β RELATIONSHIPS: Yes! In canon Evelyn has been happily married for nine years to her husband, with whom she has an eight year old son.
